First, Just get some idea on  New National Curriculum Frame Work

GENERAL OBJECTIVE
  • To lay the foundation to creating a citizen ready for the challenges of and beyond the 21st century, and to contribute to the process of sustainable national development and peace of the country.
Specific Features of the Proposed NCF up to Grade 11
  • A module-based school credit system (36 credits a term/360 hours)
  • Reducing the number of subjects tested at the G.C.E. (O/L) to 7 and categorization of subjects under the area of essential learning as two groups based on the nature of the subject
  • More weight on qualitative assessment
  • Authentic learning activities powered by blended learning.
  • Further learning modules addressing regional needs and specializations
  • Further learning areas focusing G.C.E. (A/L) and further education
  • Introduction of ILs
  • Teacher training through ARH
Implementation Process
2025 - Grade 1,6,10
2026 - Grade 2,7,11
2027 - Grade 3,8,12
2028 - Grade 4, 9, 13
2029 - Grade 5

GCE A/L - 2028

Second Term of Muslim Schools end on Friday 13th of September 2024 as scheduled by Education Ministry.

Third Term of Muslim Schools will be starts on Thursday, 19th of September 2024.

20th of September All Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim Schools will be closed for Election Purposes.

Suraksha Insurance Scheme for Students



The Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance has taken measures to implement the Suraksha Student Insurance Coverage for a period of three years with effect from 01.07.2024 for students studying in all the government schools, all the government approved private schools and pirivens as well as in government assisted special schools.

By this insurance coverage, your child is entitled to ...

Health Insurance Coverage
Inhouse Treatment Benefits - Rs. 300,000/= (government / private hospitals)
Outhouse Treatment Benefits - Rs. 20,000/=
Benefits for critical illnesses - up to Rs. 1,500,00/=


Accident Insurance Coverage
For permanent total disabilities - Rs. 200,000/= 
For temporary disabilities - from Rs. 25,000/= to Rs. 100,000
For permanent partial disabilities - Rs. 150,000/=

Life Insurance Coverage
In addition for the students in low-income families whose annual income is less than Rs. 180,000/=, students in families that belong to 'Aswesuma' programme, will be entitled for Rs. 75,000/= during a death of a parent/ legal guardian. The maximum amount allocated for a death is Rs. 225,000/= and that amount will be equally distributed among the students in the family. This insurance coverage is granted separately for the deaths of both parents or the legal guardian.

Mandatory Teacher Transfer Age 57


Education Ministry has extended the Mandatory Transfer age of teachers to 57. Ministry request the teachers of age between 55-57 to apply annual transfer for 2025 of she/he has completed 10 years in a school.

If the Teacher does not apply, Principal should fill the application and sent to the Ministry.
