Home economics Skills Development Competition

Education Ministry has released the Circular on Home Economics skills development competition.

Objectives

Developing student expertise in food and nutrition.
Developing student expertise in textile technology.
Developing student expertise in child development.
Developing student expertise in household management.
Developing practical life skills.
Encouraging innovative approaches for Resource Management.
Promoting the sustainable use of local raw materials.
Focus on traditional cooking methods, the use of local foods, and food security.
Mastering the art of hospitality and serving of food.
Encouraging research-based approaches.
Developing students' entrepreneurial skills and providing opportunities to enter the job market.
Providing opportunities for students to develop their theoretical knowledge.

Instructions for Competitions

Students who study Home Economics in Grades 10 and 11 shall only be allowed to participate in the competitions.
Objectives, conditions, and scoring system of each competition should be explained to students.
Decision of the Secretary of Education on competitions shall be final.
