Undergraduate Scholarships under the Chinese Government

Scholarships Programme - 2018/19

Applications are invited from eligible applicants for the award of 10 Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the People’s Republic of China for the year 2018/19 from Sri lankans.

General Eligibility requirements

Should be below 25 years of age on 02.03.2018.
Should have at least “S” passes for all subjects in G.C.E. (A/L) examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka with subjects relevant to the field applicant intends to apply.
Should possess a high proficiency in English.
Should be in good health.
Should not be a student registered or following a course at a university, selected by the UGC based on the G.C.E. A/L examination results.

Degree Opportunities in Open University

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) is the premier Open and Distance learning institution in Sri Lanka where students can pursue their studies through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) methodologies.

Established in 1980, under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and OUSL Ordinance No. 1 of 1990, as amended, the OUSL has the same legal and academic status as any other national University in Sri Lanka. According to the Public Administration Circular No. 16/92, dated 13.03.92, issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils & Home Affairs, the degrees awarded by The Open University of Sri Lanka are treated as equivalent to degrees awarded by any other University under the purview of the University Grants Commission.

The Open University is going to start some degree programs for the year 2018. Students who missed the state university according to their G.C.E.A/L results and persons who currently involving jobs can apply for this.

A Pool of Resource Persons will be established from Sri Lankan citizens with a view to obtain support for examination duties of the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka and this includes all the duties with regard to Other examinations, except School examinations. Resource Persons will be recruited to the pool for the following duties.

Interest free loan scheme to follow degree programmes in the non state higher education institutes for students who qualified G.C.E.A/L 2016.

Eligibility

Passed G.C.E A/L in 2016
Minimum 30 marks in Common General Paper

Selection of Students

The student who fulfill the minimum requirements stated will be considered.
Selection will be based on the all island rank measured by the Z score.
Students will be given any number of preferences for degree programs and institutes to apply based on their personal interest.
