Special intake for the applicants with exceptional abilities/skills in Sports to Universities

The University Grants Commission will entertain applications from candidates who have excelled in the field of sports to follow a course of study in Sports Science & Management conducted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and to follow a course of study in Physical Education conducted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

The requirements  

  • Winning medals or participation in Olympic Games.
  • Winning at least Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games or SAARC Games
  • Member of a national team representing Sri Lanka at Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, SAARC Games or in a recognized World Cup in a sport such as Cricket, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Netball or any other sport as decided by the University Grants Commission.

The candidates selected for admission under this special category should follow a suitable foundation course organized by the Open University of Sri Lanka before commencing of the academic programme.

Educational qualifications
Passing 06 subjects including Sinhala/Tamil/English language, Mathematics, Science and any other four subjects with credit passes at the G. C.E Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting.

 Training Courses
The apprentices selected for training will be given the opportunity to follow the course subject to the following professions and the period relevant to those professions. The examination will be conducted only in Sinhala medium. 25 apprentices for each of the following course will be selected.
(i) Diesel Engine Mechanic  2 ½ years
(ii) Welder  03 years (N.V.Q.Level 04)
(iii) Electrician (Power) 03 ½ years (N.V.Q.Level 04)
(iv) Mechanic (Ordinary) 03 ½ years (N.V.Q.Level 04)

Candidates were selected based on the Merit in the Z-Score of the Commerce Stream and the marks in Common General Test as 30% or above. The cut off of the Z score is 0.0897M (– 0.0897)

*Candidates those who satisfied the above requirements and not included in the following selected list, can submit their appeal to the Center (External Degrees and Extension Courses) or Faculty, before 13.07.2018. The appeals, received after this deadline, will not be considered
