  11. At least a three year Higher National Diploma in Accountancy/ Management/ Marketing obtained from Ceylon Technical College/ Advanced Technical Institute/ Advanced Technological Institute, Sri Lanka, etc.
  12. Attorney – at – Law

Admission of Teachers who have passed the General Arts Qualifying (External) Examination having offered English as a subject or First Examination in Bachelor o‍f Science (External) Degree Programme Academic Year 2017/2018

Applications are entertained from teachers in Government and Government approved Private schools,
who have passed the General Arts Qualifying (External) Examination (with English as a subject) and the first Examination of Bachelor of Science (External) Degree Programme for admission to universities of Sri Lanka for studying the following courses during the academic year 2017 / 2018.
(i) Bachelor of Arts Degree Programme with English as a Subject.
(ii) Bachelor of Science Degree Programme.

02. For the purpose, the applicants should possess the qualifications as follows:
(i) Should have passed the General Arts Qualifying (External) Examination (with English as a subject) and the first Examination of Bachelor of Science (External) Degree Programme held in or after year 2013. (A copy of the result sheet should be attached to the application)
(ii) Should have completed five years service as a teacher on the last date of receiving applications should be confirmed in the post.
(iii) Should not have been registered already to follow courses in a Teachers’ Training College, A National College of Education, and A University or in the National Institute of Education.

All applications should be prepared in accordance with the specimen form appearing herewith and forward them in two copies under registered post to the Secretary, Ministry of Education" “Isurupaya”, Battaramulla, before 29.06.2018, the words “Applications for Admission to Universities in Sri Lanka 2017 /2018 (For Teachers)" should be clearly written on the left hand top corner of the envelope enclosing the application.

FINANCIAL GRANTS FOR TRAINING COURSES OF JOURNALISTS
Asidisi Media Scholarship Programme - 2018


 OBJECTIVE
➢ To upgrade professionalism of Sri Lankan journalists

TARGET GROUP
➢ Journalists serving on the basis of full time or part time in recognized electronic and print media institutions island wide
➢ Free-lance Journalists
➢ Provincial Journalists
➢ Web Journalists

SELECTION CRITERIA
➢ Should be a journalist stipulated in 02 above and should have completed 03 years of service.
➢ Applicants should be selected for, or currently following a Postgraduate (Master’s), Degree, Diploma, Long term or Short Term Certificate Course related to the field of media conducted by recognized Universities, higher educational / training institutes at the date of calling for interviews. (A letter issued by the respective institution mentioning the selection to the course or currently following the course should be submitted at the interview).

➢ The course applied should be directly related to the field of media.
➢ Should be between 18 - 55 years of age
➢ Should possess Media Accreditation issued by the Department of Government Information
➢ A journalist can get benefit twice under this Scholarship Scheme and may apply for the second time 05 years after being qualified for the first time.

GRANTING FINANCIAL FACILITIES
➢ Maximum scholarship amount paid for a degree or postgraduate degree course is Rupees Two Hundred Thousand (Rs.200,000/-) and the maximum scholarship amount for a long term or short term Certificate Course is Rupees One Hundred Thousand (Rs.100,000/-).

➢ Journalists entitled to the scholarship will be paid 50% of the scholarship amount at the begining of the course as the first installment and 25% of the balance 50% as the second installment and the remaining 25% will be paid after the submission of the certificate obtained after the completion of the course.

MODE OF SELECTION
➢ Eligible applicants will be interviewed by a Selection Committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media. The decision of the Secretary to the Ministry shall be final and conclusive.
