Application For GCE O/L 2018
Applications are called from 24.04.2018 to 15.05.2018 from all the schools and private candidates who intend to sit the above examination. The Specimen Application Form given here is only for the private candidates. Every private candidate should read and understand this notice completely and fill in the Application Form.
Application Forms for school candidates:
The relevant application forms have been sent to be received by 24.04.2018 to the government schools and approved pirivenas in which the students have sat the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination earlier.
If any school has not received the applications by now such schools should inform the School Examinations Organization Branch of this Department immediately.
Only those who have left school can apply as private candidates. Applying for this examination as a private candidate while still being in school is illegal. If such an instance is revealed, it will result in being debarred from sitting examinations.

My dear students of 2017 O/L. You have done your O/L successfully with various results. Most of you, have already selected your AL stream and started your journey. Do not keep going your AL journey as the way you spent your O/L.
AL is totally different and you have to work hard and also you have to have a sound knowledge on your stream. Please Update yourself regarding your stream. What are fields you can enter with your stream, the faculties in university for you and the Z score.
Here is the way to get clear idea about it. Please refer University Entrance guide books which releases by UGC every academic year.

Dengue Free Child
Mobitel introduced a mobile application (APP) called DengueFreeChild, to help control dengue fever in the country. It was launched with the aim of helping parents to report cases of dengue or any other type of fever, while being updated about dengue hotspots. The app grants separate access for government officials and school authorities, in addition to the use of the general public to share and access information about dengue.

In order to expedite the Scholarship registration process from 2016/2017 academic year Scholarship registration introduces on line registration used the Mahapola Web site. www.mahapola.lk

Age limit raised from 8 to 12 for the Punishment for offences committed by children.
Age limit for the Punishment for offences committed by children
The age limit of 8 years under which no act of a child is considered an offence is to be increased to 12 years shortly by way of an Amendment to the Penal Code.
The Government last Friday gazetted a bill to amend the Chapter 19 of Penal Code to give effect to the above revision of the age limit.
According to the Bill “Nothing is an offence which is done by a child under 12 years of age.
Nothing is an offence which is done by a child above twelve years of age and under fourteen, if the judge is of the opinion that he has not attained sufficient maturity to understand the nature and consequences of his act”.

Application are called for the above practical examinations to be conducted in English medium. Those who wish to obtain application forms by post should sent a self addressed,stamped (to the value of Rs 10 ) Envelope of size 9"X 4" to the under mentioned address before 19th March.
Personal callers may obtain the application forms at the inquiries counter of the Department of examinations, Pelawatha, bataramula up to 5th April.
Those who wish to apply from level VI to VIII and Diploma of this practical examinations should annex copies of the certificates requested in the application. Further such copies must be certified as true copies by the attester of signature in the application with his / her official frank.
