The Postponed Examination of Official Language Proficiency -Oral Test in Southern Province, Central Province, North Western Province and Kegalle District will be held  on 09, 10 and 11 of June 2018.

New admission card would not be sent. Candidates can use the earlier admission card.

FINANCIAL GRANTS FOR TRAINING COURSES OF JOURNALISTS
Asidisi Media Scholarship Programme - 2018


 OBJECTIVE
➢ To upgrade professionalism of Sri Lankan journalists

TARGET GROUP
➢ Journalists serving on the basis of full time or part time in recognized electronic and print media institutions island wide
➢ Free-lance Journalists
➢ Provincial Journalists
➢ Web Journalists

SELECTION CRITERIA
➢ Should be a journalist stipulated in 02 above and should have completed 03 years of service.
➢ Applicants should be selected for, or currently following a Postgraduate (Master’s), Degree, Diploma, Long term or Short Term Certificate Course related to the field of media conducted by recognized Universities, higher educational / training institutes at the date of calling for interviews. (A letter issued by the respective institution mentioning the selection to the course or currently following the course should be submitted at the interview).

➢ The course applied should be directly related to the field of media.
➢ Should be between 18 - 55 years of age
➢ Should possess Media Accreditation issued by the Department of Government Information
➢ A journalist can get benefit twice under this Scholarship Scheme and may apply for the second time 05 years after being qualified for the first time.

GRANTING FINANCIAL FACILITIES
➢ Maximum scholarship amount paid for a degree or postgraduate degree course is Rupees Two Hundred Thousand (Rs.200,000/-) and the maximum scholarship amount for a long term or short term Certificate Course is Rupees One Hundred Thousand (Rs.100,000/-).

➢ Journalists entitled to the scholarship will be paid 50% of the scholarship amount at the begining of the course as the first installment and 25% of the balance 50% as the second installment and the remaining 25% will be paid after the submission of the certificate obtained after the completion of the course.

MODE OF SELECTION
➢ Eligible applicants will be interviewed by a Selection Committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media. The decision of the Secretary to the Ministry shall be final and conclusive.

➢ Duly filled applications prepared as per specimen application given below should be sent under registered cover addressed to

Circular - Acceleration of payment process of Pension


Circular has released to acceleration and formalization of the payment process of pension.
Important things are listed below. These works should be done by file clerk.

Acceleration and formalization of the payment process of pension

Maintenance of personal files
Following documents should be included in the personal file of the officer.
  • Letter of appointment
  • Original of the certificate of birth
  • Letter of confirmation in the service
  • Letter confirming that the officer has passed the Efficiency Bar examination
  • Letters which are connected to the promotion and changes made in the service.
  • Letters on disciplinary orders
  • The history sheet shall be maintained properly and accurately, updating the information i.e. period of service, annual salary as at the date of retirement, particulars on the confirmation in the service. Accordingly, a check list may be maintained in respect of the personal file.

Completion of the particulars on Widows’, Widowers’ and Orphans’ pension
  • The Head of the Department shall take action to include the following documents in the personal file in order to update Widows’, Widowers’ and Orphans’ pension file accurately.
  1. Original of marriage certificate
  2. Documents to prove the termination of previous marriages, if any.
  3. Original of the birth certificate of the spouse
  4. Certified copy of the National Identity Card of the spouse
  5. Originals of the birth certificates of the children
  6. A medical report, if there is any disabled child – The medical report issued by a government hospital to prove that the disability occurred before the age of 26years
  7. Original of the certificate of death, if the spouse has demised
  8. Absolute order issued by the court, if the officer has been divorced.
  9. Documents to prove the changes in the names of the spouse, if any.
        (Certificates of birth, marriage, death of which the originals are requested shall be
         certified by the Additional District Registrar)

Submission of applications for pension
  1. All the clearances, which are to be concluded before the retirement, shall be concluded correctly and approval should be obtained for them from the Appointing Authority 6 months before the date of retirement.
  2. The application for pension shall be submitted to the Department of Pensions by the respective public institution 3 months before the date of retirement.
  3. It is not necessary to use Form General 55 for pensions from 01.05.2015, which are not decentralized. This is not applicable for the applications which have already been referred           to the Department of Pensions.
  4. . Following documents shall compulsorily be submitted along with the application for pension

  • A copy of the letter by which the retirement has been approved.
  • Certified copy of the National Identity Card.
  • A certified pay slip for the month in which the application is sent or previous month.
  • Certified copy of the passbook issued by the bank 
       (In order to obtain the pension gratuity the officer should have a personal account at a state bank)

Preparation of the pension files and referring the same to the Divisional Secretary

  1. The pension file shall be prepared correctly and it shall be sent to the relevant Divisional Secretariat on the date of retirement of the public officer or within one week from the date of retirement.
  2. Following documents and information shall compulsorily be included in the pension file sent to the Divisional Secretary.

  • Certified copy of the History Sheet
  • Certified copy of the letter by which the retirement is approved.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of birth
  • Certified copy of the National Identity Card
  • Certified copy of the pension application (PD 03) referred to the Department of Pensions
  • Certificate of residence issued by Grama Niladhari in accordance with Form DS
  • Pension award (Treasury 79)
  • No claim certificate
       (All the documents mentioned in Para.5 in relation to the confirmation of Widows’ pension shall
        be included in the pension file)
