Requirements

 Educational Qualifications; Candidates should have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination with at least a simple pass for

English. Preference will be given to those who have a credit pass or above for English in the G.C.E (O/L) exam. Passing General

English in the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination will be an advantage.

 Age Limit: 18 – 55 Years.

 Examination fee Rs. 500.00

 Registration fee Rs. 500.00

 Course fee Rs. 26000.00

The total fee of Rs. 27,000.00 (exam, registration and course fee) should be paid before the enrolment.

Certificate in English for Tourism & Hospitality Management - Colombo University

Applications are invited from those who are interested in following the Certificate Course in English for Tourism & Hospitality Management (CETHM) for 2018.

Entry requirement

Minimum an ordinary pass in English at the GCE O/L examination or

one year work experience in the tourism sector.

For whom:

Those who are interested in working for the tourism sector.
Students following tourism and hospitality management programmes at universities vocational institutions, etc., and
Those already employed in the tourism sector.

Course Objectives:

To develop communication skills in English of tourism professionals in order to communicate effectively in an English speaking work environment of the tourism sector.

Commencement of the course: 1 st December 2018

Duration: Six months (90 contact hours: a four - hour session on Saturdays).

Course fee: Rs. 50,000.00. (Course fee can be paid in two installments)

A selection test will be held on 17 November 2018.

Application Procedure

Pay Rs. 1000/= to the collection number of the University of Colombo A/C NO: 304026100002 at any branch of the People’s Bank.
Submit the copy of the bank receipt (for 1000/-) to the Department of English Language Teaching (2nd Floor- Faculty of Arts), University of Colombo with the name of the applicant written clearly on the reverse of the receipt.
Collect the application forms and a brochure between 9.00 am – 4.00pm from 1st Oct. to 27. Oct. 2018 (except on public holidays & Sundays) at the Department of English Language Teaching.
