Eligibility list for the Practical and Viva Voce Test, External Pharmacists’ Examination Dec-2023


Ceylon Medical College Council has released the eligibility list for the Practical and Viva Test of the External Pharmacists' Exam (Dec 2023)

Those who do not achieve the pass mark of the OSPE component will not be called for the viva voce component of the examination.


With effect from the External Pharmacists' Examination - 2023 onwards, the candidates qualifying for the OSPE and viva voce components of the External Pharmacists' Examination should pay a sum of Rs. 10,000/= as the Part II examination fee.

Instructions given to principals to reduce the weight of students' book bags


Education Ministry has sent a special letter to school principals to take proper actions to reduce the weight of students school bags.

  • Making arrangements to leave students' books safely in the classroom
  • Divide the students into groups and instruct them to bring one book per group.
  • Use of soft copies of textbooks wherever possible. 
  • School should keep the books that can be reused in the classroom and make facilities for the students to use them.
  • Instruction is given by teachers to use multiple exercise books for some subjects. Considering the current economic crisis and the need to reduce the   weight of the students school bags , refrain from such instructions.

  1. Students who have passed the GCE (A/L) examination in the year 2021 or 2022 are eligible to apply for the relevant courses listed in the relevant subject stream.
  2. According to the gazette section 4.5 and 4.8, only clergy applicants who have passed the GCE (A/L) examination from 2017 to 2020 can apply for Buddhism and Catholic/ Christianity courses.
  3. It is the responsibility of the applicant to read and understand every detail provided in the gazette notification under the respective courses and complete the online application accordingly.
  4. Requests regarding applications which are not correctly completed and applications which are not submitted online will not be considered.

The United States-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC) is pleased to announce the awards competition for several Fulbright scholarship/fellowship opportunities for Sri Lankan citizens to study, conduct research, teach and engage in professional development activities in the United States.

Fulbright Master's Fellowship Awards

Fellowships for outstanding Sri Lankans to pursue a Master's Degree at a US university in any discipline (except clinical medicine). Awards are open to individuals with a 4-year Bachelor's Degree, plus one year of professional work experience after graduation and meeting other listed requirements.

Application Deadline: May 31, 2024

Fulbright Professional Scholar Awards:

Awards designed for professionals from all fields to undertake a project with a collaborator in the United States, that will help build capacity in Sri Lanka. Awards are open to individuals with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, demonstrated significant accomplishments, commitment to developing the field and meeting other listed requirements.

Application Deadline: October 1, 2024

Fulbright Advanced Research and Lecturing Awards:

Awards for scholars in any field, to pursue postdoctoral research and/or lecturing at a US university or research institution. Individuals with a Ph.D., plus a minimum of 5 years of professional experience and meeting other listed requirements are encouraged to submit applications.

Application Deadline: October 1, 2024

Fulbright Specialist Awards:

Awards for Sri Lankan institutions to bring US specialists in selected disciplines for a period of 2-6 weeks to meet specific educational or training needs and to foster the program goals of building capacity and creating collaborative linkages between US and Sri Lankan institutions.

Eligible Institutions: Institutions of Higher Education (recognized Degree-granting, Post-secondary Academic Institutions); Government Institutions (Ministries or Agencies, Courts, Parliamentary or Congressional Bodies); Cultural Institutions (Conservatories, Museums, etc.) ; Non-Governmental Organizations including non-partisan, issue-centered institutions such as Think Tanks; Medical Institutions (Public Health Organizations, Teaching Hospitals, etc.).

Eligible Fields : See website for eligible fields and areas of specialization.

Eligible Project Activities (include but not limited to): Teaching or training at the undergraduate/post- graduate level; delivering seminars or workshops; developing academic or training curricula and/or teaching / educational materials; conducting needs assessments for a program or institution; consulting on faculty or workforce development and institutional planning; and building capacity of faculty, administrators, or staff.

Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Awards:

Open to secondary level teachers in specific subject fields to engage in a six-week program to experience US classroom teaching while sharing expertise with teachers around the world. Individuals with a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, a minimum of 5 years of post-qualifying teaching experience and meeting additional requirements are encouraged to submit applications.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2024 - APPROACHING FAST!

Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Awards:

Awards for accomplished, mid-career, professionals in leadership positions in specified fields with a commitment to public service and to the development of Sri Lanka to pursue a ten-month, non-degree program. Individuals with a 4-year Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of 5 years of significant post-qualifying professional experience and meeting additional requirements are encouraged to submit applications.
