Undergraduate Scholarships under the Chinese Government

Scholarships Programme - 2018/19

Applications are invited from eligible applicants for the award of 10 Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the People’s Republic of China for the year 2018/19 from Sri lankans.

General Eligibility requirements

1. Should be below 25 years of age on 02.03.2018.
2. Should have at least “S” passes for all subjects in G.C.E. (A/L) examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka with subjects relevant to the field applicant intends to apply.
3. Should possess a high proficiency in English.
4. Should be in good health.
5. Should not be a student registered or following a course at a university, selected by the UGC based on the G.C.E. A/L examination results.

Medium of Instructions -

• Chinese Language

The scholarship will provide;

1. Monthly Living Allowance
2. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment ,fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials
3. One-off settlement subsidy after registration.
4. Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance
5. One-off inter-city travel subsidy (Travelling from the port of entry upon registration to the admitting institution).
6. Free accommodation

Special Notes

1. Conditions laid down in this notification may vary as per the criteria imposed by the awarding country without prior notice.
2. If any student declines the offer after the selection through the interview, he/she may not be considered for any of the scholarships for one year.
3. Candidates who are awarded a scholarship would not be considered for university admission through the UGC, Sri Lanka.
4. Candidates after the receipt of placements under the scholarship cannot decline the scholarship except if the Higher Educational Institute allocated is not recognized by the University Grants Commission or by the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
5. Extension of the period of the scholarship will not be recommended by this Ministry.
6. Successful candidates should be prepared to study the subjects in Chinese Language. Before the commencement of studying the relevant subjects, knowledge in Chinese Language will be given for a duration of one year.
7. Field of study, institutions or the duration of study selected at the beginning will not be changed later.

Applications

1. Every Application should confirm to the specimen form provided.
2. The words “Chinese Undergraduate Scholarships- 2018/19” should be hand or type-written on top left corner of the envelope containing the application.
3. Each Applicant should submit only one application for award, and should state whether he /she has been nominated for a similar award in the past.
4. Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect before selection, will render the applicant liable to disqualification. If such inaccuracy is found after selection it will lead to the withdrawal of the award.
5. Any application, which is not sent through the proper channels or incomplete in any respect or received late, will be rejected.

Closing Date: Applications will be accepted only up to 02.03.2018.
